It’s possible to run both Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 on the same PC, which is great for web developers and designers to check their web sites look right in both browsers. However, there’s usually several steps to take to do this. So, I’ve created a ZIP file which contains:
- Firefox 2.0.0.20
- Firefox 3.0.7
- An installation batch file, which automatically install Firefox 2, Firefox 3, create the necessary user profiles and provide instructions to ensure both Firefox 2 and 3 can run side by side.
Simply unzip the file, and run install.bat
A few points to note:
- Please read the batch script carefully. It details what you need to do first (i.e. uninstall any existing Firefox installs on your PC, backing up your Bookmarks etc).
- I’ve tested this in Windows XP Pro, but can’t guarantee that it’ll work.
- You can only use the desktop shortcuts provided, once installed (but you’re welcome to copy these elsewhere – each shortcut specifies a specific profile to load, to ensure no clashes between Firefox 2 and 3)
